Digital Health and Safety Policy

Looking after your health, safety and wellbeing while you learn online.

Owner: Starbuck & Associates Limited  |  Applies to: Starbuck & Associates and Starbuck Academy  |  Version: 1.0, 8 October 2026  |  Approved by: Paul Starbuck, Founder and CEO  |  Next review: October 2027

Starbuck & Associates takes the health, safety and wellbeing of learners seriously. Starbuck Academy programmes are delivered online, so this policy covers the risks that come with learning on a screen, at your own pace and often on your own.

Learning comfortably

  • Our lessons are deliberately short and self paced. Please take regular breaks from the screen: a few minutes away after each lesson, and at least 5 to 10 minutes in every hour.
  • Set up your screen, chair and lighting so that you are comfortable, and change position often. The Health and Safety Executive publishes free guidance on working safely with display screen equipment at hse.gov.uk.
  • Do not watch lessons while driving, operating machinery or doing anything that needs your full attention.

Your wellbeing

Some programmes cover subjects that can be personal, such as mental health, resilience, conflict and imposter feelings. Our programmes are general learning and development content. They are not medical, psychological, legal or HR advice. If a topic affects you, pause and return to it when you are ready. If you are struggling, please speak to your GP or NHS 111, or call Samaritans free on 116 123 at any time. If you are outside the UK, please contact your local health or emergency services.

Workplace tasks

Each lesson includes a task to try at work. Always follow your own organisation’s policies and health and safety rules when carrying these out.

Staying safe online

  • Keep your login details private and sign out on shared devices.
  • We will never ask for your password or card details by email.
  • Coaching and live sessions are held on secure video platforms and conducted professionally, in line with the ICF Code of Ethics.
  • Our platform and data are managed under our ISO/IEC 27001 certified information security management system.

Our own people

We meet our duties to employees and associates under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, including for those who work from home and at screens.
